In music, an octave represents the same note at a higher or lower frequency—a structure that scales while retaining its core identity. Compensation, done well, should function the same way. A strong philosophy should remain consistent as your organization grows, while adapting across levels, geographies, and functions. When all elements are in sync, everything flows—your hiring, your retention, and your operating rhythm.
Hi, I’m Nick—founder of Octave Comp.
Over the past 10+ years, I’ve led compensation programs at high growth tech companies like Pinterest, Asana, Reddit, and Meta—developing everything from job architecture frameworks and equity strategy to pay transparency initiatives and IPO readiness.
I started Octave Comp to take my learnings and apply it more broadly—to help more companies, at all stages, build compensation systems that scale with intention. I also wanted space to explore what’s next: how AI, comp tech, and smarter tooling are reshaping how we approach pay. I bring that lens into every engagement—testing, refining, and integrating modern practices into foundational design.
I partner with founders, People teams, and Finance leaders to build programs that are philosophically grounded, manager-friendly, and built to grow with you.
If that sounds exciting to you, I’d be glad to help. Get in touch!
